Her master was kind to his slaves & gave them opportunity best suited for him. Martha remained in house with other children & learned to read & write. Married after emanicapation to minister Isaac Henry White of the adjoining plantation. She lived in Salisbury until 1915 until friends took her to Wilmington to Home for the Aged. |
Family and Other Information | Parents: Henry & Wilhelmina Spencer (their 3rd chld) Spouse: Isaac Henry White md. 3/23/1865. He died Nov. 1910 at Salisbury. Survived by daughter Mrs. Mary L. Turner, Ocean City, N.J., grandaughter, Mrs. Martha Viola Archer, Easton, Pa, 1 greatgrandson, 3 great-great-grandchildren. |
