Church Service, Charges Served, Affiliated Locations, and Other Biographical Information Born in parsonage, he moved from charge to charge with his father. Enlisted in U.S. Army. Made Corporal of Company F of 24th Regiment Infantry in 1899 & commissioned by President McKinley as 2nd Lieutenant, serving in Cuba & Phillipine Islands during the Spanish-American War. Then stationed at Presidio San Francisco, California. After 13 years of service he received an honorable discharge. Taught in public school at Barclay, Md for 3 years. In 1909 licensed to preach in Wilmington District of Delaware Conference. Joined conference at Haven Memorial Church, Philadelphia. Charges: Greensboro, Md; Salisbury, Md; Whatcoat, Dover, Del.; Ezion, Wilmington; District Superintendent of Salisbury District; Asbury, Atlantic City, N.J.
Family and Other Information Parents: Rev. Willis C. & Elmira Dickerson Spouse: Bertha Virginia Landman of Millington, Md (soon after return from Army) - she died during his Pastorate at Greensboro, Md. 2nd Spouse: Mrs. Josie E. Hollis of Goldsboro, Md in 1918. She survives him. Also survived by: 2 brothers: Rev. Oliver P. Dickerson & Willis C. Dickerson Jr; stepmother Mrs. Willis C. Dickerson, Sr.; eight nieces & nephews & great niece & 5 great-great nieces & nephews.
