Church Service, Charges Served, Affiliated Locations, and Other Biographical Information | Converted at campground when slave in 1834. Worked to paid money to purchase self; master died without signing freedom papers & bound again to slavery. Mounted auction block in Princess Anne; with aid of sympathizing white friends bid himself in. Had small lot of land, cabin, wife & little children. Wife & children put up for sale & tried to buy them, raised $1200 but 2 children were sold south just as Civil War came. Admitted in old John Wesley (now Bainbridge Street, Philadelphia) in 1864. Served 32 yrs; 11 yrs as superannuate. Appointments: Union Circuit, Md, Milford, De., Milton, De.; John Wesley, Centreville, Md; West Chester, Pa.; Hillsboro, Md; Marydel; Quantico, Md; Horntown, VA; Lewes & Harmoney, Del; Church Creek, Hillsboro, Salem, NJ; Middletown, Del; Snow Hill Circuit. Superannuated 1885. |
