Transaction Abstract Petition in Baltimore of Edmund North for extension by County Court of term of service of Negro Jinkins Miller, a slave for term of years. Court is satisfied that Negro man Jinkins Miller is servant or slave of Edmund North for term of years due to Bill of Sale executed by John E. Stevens & recorded in Dorchester County in Liber W. J. No 3 folio 48 of Chattel records; which mentioned previous Bill of Sale by Thomas J. Pattison to Stevens & recorded in W.J. No. 3 folio 16 conveying him for term to expire 21 May 1861 & then to be free. Court is satisfied by proof that Jenkoins has absconded from his owner & on 28 Jan 1850 ordered that to indemnify North of all expenses & loss caused by the absconding, the term of service is extended for further period of 2 years until 20 May 1863 [ or 28 May 1863]; provided that any sale made of said Negro by North or any person claiming from or under him, shall be by Bill of Sale in which the whole of this order shall be inserted. Jenkins Miller is 28 yo & of black complexion. North authorizes his attorney Lewis P. Ross to talk to people in Cambridge to sell & dispose of Miller. Signed 9 Feb 1850.
