Transaction Abstract Due to Maryland Act of General Assembly passed Dec. 1839 Chapter 35 entitled "An act to provide for the better regulation of free Negroes & Mulato children within this State" James Fooks has agreed, in presence of Justices of Orphans Court, to take as apprentices Negroes Anna Maria Styles 8 yo & William Styles 8 yo. Anna Maria to serve until 16 yo & William to serve until 21 yo. Fooks to provide sufficient meat, drink, cloth, washing, lodging & other necessaries. To teach Anna Maria business of house wifery & William the business of a farmer. At end of service, Anna Maria to receive freedom dues of $10 & William $15. Signed 23 Sep 1850
