Message Body | Your letter of the 30th was received last night. [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] I enclose to you a report from the 20th November to the First of December. The division or difference that has existed between the people has I think been compromised and they now intend to hold their school in the church and not build a school house, and to use the money collected to pay the expenses of the school as they are not able the present season to pay any large amount of money. There are no persons ins this section who can or at least do attempt to urge the education of the race except Mr Groce and myself, as we are both from Massachusetts and he has been in the army and also taught this school before. I think I shall have a good report at the end of the month The blanks and Register have been received. I had been using the Register formerly used by Mr Groce [...] any information you wish regarding Freedmen or other matters please address me as C. S. Groce |
