Black Individuals Mentioned in Will | Referring to the will (dated 28 July 1860) of late husband Levin Townsend regarding bequests to grandchldren & the account per same: The account, dated 3 November 1863, was given by me and George Upshur, Administrator, to the Orphans Court. There appears to be a balance of $26,284.08. Whereof the sum of $11,750 is the value of Negroes once belonging to the said estate. The Negroes, by Emancipation, have become a total lost. Remaining funds are reallotted & to dispered among heirs to equalize differences. |
