Message Abstract States that too much division exists among the people here for them to support a school; that they have paid her but $2.00 for teaching since Christmas; that she has been sick for some time past but hopes soon to be able to reopen school, and hopes to receive aid from the Bureau.
Message Body Dear Sir I thought I would write and inform you of the procedings of this school I do not think that the people here will Support a School properely for I think that [[strikethrough]] [[indecipherable]] [[/strikethrough]] to much opposision exist here amoung the Freedmen they have not paid me but $2.00. since Cristmas they have promised to make publick colections for me at diferent times but when the time arives they will use the money for other purposes: Joseph Briddle and Justis Morris and Edward Morris three of the Trustees told me when I refused to teach school in that small House they have built they with held making a colection for me and said they would apply to your office for another Teacher they are well a ware that I have been very ill about 6 weeks and still unable to work and stand in need of my salery wich they refuse to pay. I think if my ^ [[insertion]] health [[/insertion]] still continues to improve as fast as it has for the past 2 weeks I will be able to reopen School with in one week hoping you will aid me if posible I will wait your orders Mr Kimble I regret very much that I was unable to see you when you [[strikethrough]] wer here [[/strikethrough]] were here in this ignorent country I have almost given up in dispare about Teaching any longer here hoping to get a reply soon I will close please excuse this poor writing for my Nerves are very weak as yet [[strikethrough]] and I [[/strikethrough]] wich renders me quite unable to write - the Freedmen still owe me $2.00 Dollars
