Abstract of Record | Division of negroes from estate of John Leatherbury, deceased. Names, ages, & values and distributions follow. Negroes to be divided: 1st. Sandy 33 yo (value $375), William 22 yo (value $425), William 22 yo (value $425), James 17 yo (value $400), Whitty 17 yo (value $400), Samuel 14 yo (value $250), Noah 16 yo (value $275), John 9 yo (value $225), Sarah 6 yo (value $125), Carey 21 yo ($250), Joshua 40 yo (value $300), Orrice 60 yo (value $5). Total $3030. 2ndly to the widow, Miranda & Eleanor Leatherbury, children of the deceased by a former wife, & an infant, born after the death of the deceased. To the widow - 1/3 of the whole amount $1010, to the three children above named each $673.33 1/3 T. $2020. Grand total $3030. Afterwhich we learned that the infant aforesaid died leaving the said widow, & Miranda & Elanor Leatherbury aforesaid, as also two children named Leven D & Elizabeth E. Jones, children of the said widow by a former husband, its heirs at law, that is to say: the Widow & the four children each have 15 of $673.33 1/3 = $134.66 2/3 hence we found the widow, who had died previous to our investigation of business to have been possesed at her death of the following amount, which descended to her two children Levin D. & Elizabeth E Jones; viz her one third & the 1/5 of the deceased infant's part which has been found to be $134.66 2/3 making in all $1144.66 2/3 add to this 2/5 of the said infant's part & we find the amount which is to be divided between the said Levin D & Elizabeth E. Jones 269.33 1/3 =$1414. Other calculations to disperse values shown in original. This means that the disbursements are as follows: To Miranda Leatherbury - negroes Sandy, Casey & John valued at $850. To Eleannor Leatherbuy: negroes William, Sarah, Samule & Orris. To Levin D. Jones: negroes James & Joshua. To Elizabeth E Jones: negroes Whitty & Noah. |
