Abstract John Wesley Purnell, Negro, 9 yo on 6 April next, son of Joshua & Jane Purnell of indigent circumstances & with their approbation, is bound as apprentice to James Duncan, until 6 Apr 1862 when he is 21 yo, to learn the art of farming. He is to receive sufficient meat, drink, clothing, & lodging during apprenticeship & at end of term to receive 2 suits of wearing apparel - 1 suitable for Sundays & the other for working days. Includes notation of agreement from parents.
