Abstract | Joseph Whittington Balch, 12 yo on 31 May next is the son of Joseph Balch a slave, the mother of Joseph Whittington is a free Negro woman now dead. With approbation of Joseph Balch, Joseph Whittington Balch is indentured to Zadok T. Milbourn to learn trade of farming until he is 21 yo. He is to receive sufficient meal, drink, clothing & lodging during apprenticeship & at end of term to receive 2 suits of apparel - 1 for Sundays & 1 for working days and $20. |
