Abstract | Justices of Peace bind Peter Townsend, free Negro boy, 10 yo on 28 July next, as represented by his mother & as appears by the family record contained in a Bible exhibited to Justices showing that Peter is son of Hannah Townsend, free Negro woman. She is of indigent circumstances & with Peter's approbation & consent of mother, he is bound to Denard Williams as an apprentice to learn the trade of farming. He is to serve until 28 Jul 1861 when he will be 21 yo. he is to receive sufficent meat, drink, clothing & lodging during apprenticeship & at end of term to receive suit of clothes to cost $12 or $7 cash. Hannah also states she is his only living parent. |
