Abstract James Custis Allen [boy] of colour, an orphan 10 yo on 11 March last past, bound as apprentice to Jacob Blake, farmer, until James is 21 yo; with approbation of his grandmother Patience Williams. He to learn trade of a farmer and to be supplied with good & sufficient meat, drink, clothes & lodging during apprenticeship; at end of term to receive suit of clothes worth $15 or that sum in current money. Includes notation by grandmother giving permission.
