Abstract Manumission: Thomas Jones, of Lemuel does hereby emancipate and set free the following Negro slaves in the manner following: Negro man "Henry" to be free the last day of November next, Negro man "Bobb" to be free the last day of November 1808, Negro man "George" to be free the last day of November 1810, Negro woman "Abigail" to be free immediately, Negro woman "Voilett" to be free the 1st of January next, Negro woman "Flora" to be free the last day of November 1809, Negro woman "Barbary" and Negro woman "Jane" both to be free the last day of November 1809, Negro woman "Esther" to be free the last day of November 1804 and Negro woman "Bett" to be free the last day of November 1810, Negro boy "Helar" aged 12, Negro boy "Spence" aged 10 Negro boy "Littleton" aged 6 Negro boy "Nehemiah" aged 4 and Negro boy "Denwood" aged 3 Negro boy "Mitchell" aged 3 Negro girl "Milcah" aged 16, Negro girl "Sina" aged 10 and all the last mentioned young Negroes to be free at the age of 30. Abstract John Stevens of the county does hereby declare that on the 23rd of September 1802 he did import and bring with him from Washington, D.C. into the county the following Negroes: being a Negro man "Tom" aged 48 formerly the property of William Stevens of the county who by his last will and testament dated January 16th of 1798 did devise the said Negro man to the said John and also a Negro woman "Sinah" aged 21 and Negro "Arthur" aged 17 formerly the property of Drummond Marshall of Worcester County and from whom he in a cause of distribution to his daughter Betsy with whom the said Stevens intermarried did acquire his right and title to the said Negroes and that the said Negroes were born in the State of Maryland and were carried with Stevens to Washington D.C. about 18 months past and are now brought back for Steven's own use and not for sale.

Abstract List of Negroes: A list of Negroes carried by John Dennis to Georgetown in the District of Columbia in September 1801 and brought back to Somerset County on the 29th of April 1802 with their names ages, sexes, etc. being "George" Negro man aged 26, "Henry" Negro man aged 30, "Vilet" a Negro woman aged 22, "Betsy" a child of "Vilet" aged 1 1/2 "Belinda" Negro girl aged 19, "Zilpha" Negro girl aged 16 and the said Dennis has title to the said Negroes under the will of his father dated the 12th of February 1774 who devised to the said John their mother "Rose" and to the residue the said Dennis has title by virtue of his intermarriage with Eleanor Jackson, now Eleanor Dennis to whom they were given by the will of her mother Elizabeth Jackson who devised her title to "Vilet" and her child under the will of her brother Levin Wilson dated the 12th of June 1791 and to "Harry" she derives her title under the will of Henry Jackson, dated the 26th of January 1794, "Vilet" being born the property of the said Levin and "Harry" of Henry Jackson.

Abstract For and in consideration of a certain bond this day passed to the said Rowan from George Robertson conditioned that if Negro Lovey and her 3 children George, Joseph and a female child expressed in the bond and whose name is unknown to the grantor, but said to be named Leah should fail in establishing their claim of freedom under and in virtue of a certain instrument of writing executed by Thomas Cutchell purporting to be his manumission of the said Negro and her 3 children that then the said George and his heirs should pay the sum of $550 to the said Rowan and also in further consideration of the sum of 5 shillings current money the said Rowan as attorney for the representatives of the said Cushall does sell and deliver to the said George the above named Negro woman and her 3 children on the condition that shall the said Negroes be adjudged to be entitled to their freedom then the instrument of writing to be void and of no effect.
